Privacy Policy
Your data. Our responsibility. No team orders.
Last updated: 11 May 2026 · Effective immediately
Welcome to the F1 Race Intel Data Protection Briefing — the document your lawyer will read and your race engineer definitely won't. F1 Race Intel ("we", "us", "our") operates f1raceintel.com. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. It's less exciting than a Safety Car restart, but considerably more important.
F1 Race Intel is based in South Africa and operates in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We take both about as seriously as Max takes track limits — very.
1. The Data We Collect — Our Telemetry
Every team monitors their car. We monitor a lot less, and we tell you exactly what.
When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a hashed value — we never see your plain-text password, much like how we never see what Red Bull are doing in their garage). You may optionally provide a profile photo.
We store your preferred driver, UI theme, language, and email briefing preferences so your experience is personalised across sessions. Think of it as your car setup — saved between races, adjusted when you ask.
If you subscribe to F1 Race Intel Premium, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number, CVV, or full payment details — Stripe handles the cash, we just get told whether you're in or out, like a qualifying session. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment processing.
When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message content solely to respond to your inquiry. We don't record every conversation like certain team principals.
We may collect standard server logs including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is used for security, performance monitoring, and aggregate analytics only. No, we cannot tell from your IP address that you've been checking Verstappen's stats every five minutes. (We can. But we won't tell anyone.)
2. How We Use It — The Race Strategy
Unlike some strategies, ours is transparent and doesn't blow up on the last lap.
- To create and manage your account
- To personalise your dashboard, driver theme, and content feed
- To send you the Morning Briefing and Evening Debrief emails you opt into
- To process subscription payments via Stripe
- To respond to your contact form inquiries
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
- To improve the platform through aggregated, anonymised analytics
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Your data isn't a DRS overtake opportunity for advertisers.
3. Email Communications — The Pit Wall Radio
"Box, box" — but only if you asked us to call.
If you opt into email briefings at registration or in your profile settings, we will send you F1 Race Intel Morning Briefings and/or Evening Debriefs. You can unsubscribe at any time by updating your preferences in your profile, or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send — no 5-second penalty for leaving.
We will never send you unsolicited marketing emails from third parties. Unlike certain race stewards, we won't blindside you with something you didn't see coming.
4. Cookies — Not the Pirelli Kind
These ones don't grain up after 15 laps.
We use essential session cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. If we add analytics tools (such as Google Analytics), these will be disclosed here and you will be given the option to opt out. We promise not to deploy a Safety Car every time you try to manage cookie preferences.
5. Data Storage & Security — The Parc Fermé
Locked up tight. No unauthorised access permitted.
Your data is stored on servers hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the Cape Town region (af-south-1) — close to home, under strict controls. We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls. Think of it as parc fermé for your personal information.
No system is completely secure — even the FIA's timing system goes down occasionally. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by POPIA.
6. Your Rights — The Sporting Regulations
Unlike the actual Sporting Regulations, these are written in plain English.
Under POPIA and GDPR you have the following rights regarding your personal information. We will honour all of them, and we won't refer the matter to the stewards for investigation:
Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you — your full data dossier, no redactions
Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data — like fixing a wrong grid position
Request that we delete your account and personal data — a full DNF from our records
Request your data in a machine-readable format — take your telemetry elsewhere
Object to how we process your personal data — raise the protest flag
Withdraw consent for email communications at any time — radio silence, your call
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@f1raceintel.com or use the Race Control Inquiry Desk. We will respond within 30 days — faster than a Haas pit stop, we promise.
You may also delete your account directly from your Profile Settings page, effective immediately.
7. Data Retention — How Long It Stays in the Garage
We don't hoard data like teams hoard token allocations.
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days — like a car retiring to the garage, everything gets packed up and cleared out. Exception: billing records may be retained for up to 5 years for tax and legal compliance. The FIA keeps records too. It's just how it works.
8. Children's Privacy — No Junior Programme Here
F1 has a junior programme. We do not.
F1 Race Intel is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly — no questions asked, no points deducted.
9. Policy Changes — New Technical Regulations
We'll give you more notice than the FIA gives teams.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — think of it like a new technical directive, except we'll actually explain what changed and why. We will notify registered users of material changes by email before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version. No surprises mid-season.
10. Contact — The Stewards' Office
We're more approachable than the actual stewards.
