Technical Breach Threatens Hadjar's Miami Qualifying Participation
Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar has been set to be excluded from qualifying at the Miami Grand Prix following a technical regulations violation discovered during scrutineering. According to Autosport, Hadjar's RB22 was found to be illegal due to the floor board dimension protruding two millimetres beyond the specification defined in the 2026 technical regulations.
FIA Concedes Track-Limits Error in Sprint Qualifying
In a separate incident affecting the sprint qualifying session, the FIA has acknowledged missing Alex Albon's track-limits infringement during SQ1, according to RacingNews365. The oversight had direct consequences: the missed violation cost Liam Lawson his place in SQ2, forcing the Racing Bulls driver to be eliminated from the second phase of qualifying. Motorsport.com and Autosport reported that Lawson's team had been preparing for a potential return to the track, with the world TV feed capturing the driver sitting in his car in the garage as the situation developed.
McLaren and Mercedes Shine Despite Drama
Away from the controversy, Oscar Piastri secured pole position for the sprint qualifying, with Crash.net reporting that the McLaren driver stated the team did not "luck into" the result. Meanwhile, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff praised Kimi Antonelli's "spectacular" Miami qualifying performance, as the Italian driver took pole position for the main race ahead of Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, according to Motorsport.com.
